Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Simon Beaufoy, Slumdog Millionaire follows 18-year-old Jamal, who is played by Dev Patel in his feature debut. Jamal joins a quiz show, akin to Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. He manages to get every answer right, and is accused of cheating.
And now, fast-forward 18 years after the film’s premiere, the rights to a sequel and TV have been acquired, although it is unclear whether Patel, the film’s female lead Freida Pinto and other original cast members would return for the potential sequel.
Slumdog Millionaire was a global box-office hit and won 8 Oscars, and is loosely adapted from the book Q&A by Vikas Swarup.
