Sesame Street Actor, Bob McGrath Dies Peacefully In His Home At 90

Sesame Street actor, Bob McGrath, has passed away at 90, marking another nostalgia-inducing loss this year.

One of the first non-Muppet regular characters on the show, McGrath, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home, according to his family. In a statement made by his daughter Cathlin McGrath, complications following a stroke had ultimately led to his death.

The actor appeared on Sesame Street for almost 50 years.

He portrayed the amiable neighbour of a number of puppet characters, including Bert and Ernie, Cookie Monster, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, and Elmo. More precisely, Bob portrayed a jovial, sweater-clad music instructor who gave guidance to his students and peers.

When Mr. McGrath and two other longstanding cast members, Emilio Delgado and Roscoe Orman, were removed in 2016, viewers were incensed. Contracts were not extended when HBO acquired the programming rights to Sesame…
