“Wicked” Producer Defends Decision to Split the Film

today14 February 2024

Background

I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!

As we all know, the big-screen adaptation of Wicked will be split into two parts, much to the audience’s less than appeased reaction. However, producer Marc Platt stands by the decision of splitting the films by saying,

“We didn’t want to end up making one four-hour movie and then cutting out songs. We want to satisfy the fans of the musical. Film allows you to create a place and a time — a university like Shiz, an extraordinary Emerald City governor’s mansion. There’s so much to explore.”

Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo as lphaba Thropp, Ariana Grande as Glinda Upland, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and more.

The movie is set to release in the end of November, so here’s the trailer in the meantime!
