
Political parties should review the age limits for their youth wings in line with the new maximum youth age of 30, which will take effect on Jan 1 next year, analysts say.
Tawfik Yaakub and Ariff Aizuddin Azlan agreed that lowering the youth wing age limit from the current 35–40 range to 30 would open more opportunities for young members to actively contribute to the nation’s political maturity.
“This issue of the youth age limit is not a political experiment. It must be embraced by all parties to ensure that young people are given fair space, representation and opportunities while they are still within the youth bracket,” said Tawfik, who is from Universiti Malaya.
