Ministry acts after bullying case reported at Miri youth skills institute
The youth and sports ministry says stern action will be taken against a group of National Youth Skills Institute students who assaulted a classmate in Miri, Sarawak, in an incident captured on video.
The ministry said the bullies would either be suspended or expelled.
“There is no room for physical violence at this institute, prank or otherwise,” it said in a statement.
The ministry said a preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred at 4.30pm on Sept 19.
It said the institute only received a report on the matter on Sept 22.
In a Facebook post, the minister, Hannah Yeoh, said that as a mother, she found bullying unacceptable.
