Yet another actress is stepping up to speak out about mistreatment while being on set of a famous teen series.
Sophia Bush played Brooke Davis for nine seasons on the hit television show, and she has recently opened up about the treatment that she experienced in a podcast. Bush was still in her early 20s at the time of filming despite portraying a high school student. This dynamic made her feel “weird because, in some ways, we were treated like adults.”
She explained,
“Looking back on it, we can see the ways in which we were fetishized and we had this lens of adultification put over us with this idea that we were supposed to know everything and have answers, and be, ultimately, professional,” she continued. “When we didn’t even know what the technical terms were. It was like, ‘Get on your mark!’ And you’re like, ‘What are you talking about? What is a mark?'”

“We were expected to be these adults and yet, we were also looked at kind of as pawns,” she elaborated.
In a previous podcast, Bush revealed that,
“I remember my boss kept writing scenes for me to be in my underwear,” Sophia recalled. “And I was like, ‘I’m not doing this, this is inappropriate.’ Like, I don’t think this is what we should be teaching 16-year-old girls to be doing, and to be seeking validation this way.”
Her character, Brooke Davis, is popularly thought of as some of the best role models for teenagers. Throughout her high school life, she always made sure to keep her head on her shoulders and never attached her self-worth to a boy’s perception.

She also rose above her parents’ neglect and followed her dreams, resulting in a multi-million fashion company. AND she promotes healthy self-image for girls everywhere.
And most importantly, she’s a good friend — through and through.
In regards to Bush’s claims, Warner Bros. have yet to give a response.
