The “post-high school” stage of life should be about moving forward, figuring out what you want to do with and in your life. This is the time that you finally get to decide what you want to pursue in the future. Whether it’s to fulfil your dreams of saving lives by becoming a doctor or wanting to learn the in and outs of media so you can continue to entertain others by becoming a content creator.

While this is what most high school graduates are ruminating on, unfortunately, one graduate does not share the same fate. A post shared on Twitter by doctor @ramlysmail_ shows a high school graduate spending his post-SPM time on a hospital bed.

“The 2020 SPM batch must be occupied thinking what’s next (in their life). But this brother Ilman is forced to fight for his life. There’s a tumour in his spinal cord. Stage 3. He is currently undergoing treatment in a few hospitals (Seremban Hospital, The National Cancer Institute & Putrajaya Hospital).”

He continues to explain what Ilman’s parents are doing to assist him through the process.

“Ilman’s mother is a single mother. To take care of him and make frequent visits to the hospital, she was forced to resign from her job. Now she depends on JKM’s (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat) allowance, RM500 a month.”

He ends the thread with a link for donations as they are in desperate need of help.

At the time of writing, Ilman has received over RM9,000 in donations from kind members of the public.

Netizens wished Ilman well and prayed for his recovery.

Celebrity entrepreneur Neelofa also shared her concern, asking others to help Ilman however they can.

We wish Ilman and his mother the best of luck. No one should be going through such struggles at a young age. You can send your donations through marhaen.my. Together, we can work towards easing the burden for our fellow Malaysian.
