Bhutan is the latest Asian nation to decriminalize same-sex relations

Bhutan is known for being the world’s happiest country but members of the LGBTQ community of Bhutan may not have been able to agree with that until now.

The Bhutan Parliament recently approved a bill to legalize same-sex relations, making them the latest Asian nation to ease restrictions on gay relationships.

Sections 213 and 214 of Bhutan’s penal code had criminalized “unnatural sex” which was interpreted as gay and lesbian relationships.
