According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is now the world’s most common form of the disease after it overtook lung cancer – which held on to the top spot for the last two decades – in number of diagnoses.
“For the first time, breast cancer now constitutes the most commonly occurring cancer globally,” said WHO cancer specialist Andre Ilbawi at a U.N. briefing ahead of the upcoming World Cancer Day on February 4, 2021.
