Cops deny NFA in probe into alleged child molest case

KUALA LUMPUR:

Police have denied shelving their investigation into a foreign worker who allegedly molested a nine-year-old girl at a convenience store in Kajang in February.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof denied the case had been classified as requiring no further action (NFA), saying investigations were ongoing under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act for physical sexual assault on a child.

“Action is being taken to complete our investigations,” he told FMT.

Last Friday, Naazron said the police were seeking witnesses to assist in their investigation into the case.

He said a police report was lodged on March 12 by the victim’s father, claiming his daughter was molested on Feb 27. He said the victim had only revealed the incident to her family on March 11.
