In her announcement, Onika Tanya Maraj blessed Barbz with the news:
“What’s up, y’all? I’m very excited to finally share with you guys that my docuseries is coming to HBO Max! It’s going to give you guys a raw, unfiltered look at my personal life and my professional journey. And I can’t wait to share it with you.”
The docuseries is being directed by Michael John Warren, who also directed Jay-Z’s 2004 concert ‘Fade To Black’ and will be split into six parts. In his statement, Warren said of the project:
“I love that this series not only provides an all-access glimpse at one of the most iconic musicians of our generation; it also profiles the brave woman behind the artist, Onika. I believe all of us can learn a great deal from her remarkable professional and personal life. It’s an honour to be entrusted with this dynamic story.”

This will not be the first time that Warren and Minaj have collaborated, with Warren having a part in both MTV documentaries featuring the rapper, ‘Nicki Minaj: My Time Now’ (2010) and ‘Nick Minaj: My Time AGAIN’ (2015). In the meantime, while no release date has been set, Barbz have been blessed with eight bonus tracks in a digital reissue of Minaj’s debut album, ‘Pink Friday’ to make its 10-year anniversary.
Who else is excited??
