In a few hours, Billie Eilish’s highly anticipated documentary is set to drop!

The documentary is described as a “true coming-of-age story of the singer-songwriter and her rise to global superstardom”. Directed by Emmy award winning director R.J. Cutler (‘The War Room’, ‘If I Stay’), “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry” promises an initiate look into the life of the ‘Ocean Eyes’ singer, when at the age of 17, she had to navigate life on the road, on stage, and at home with her family, while writing, recording and releasing her debut album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?”

Not only will we get to see Eilish at home and on tour, but Cutler also had access to early footage shot by Elish and her mother – giving fans a look into the days before she was a public figure. This includes backyard footage of Eilish directing the music video for ‘When the Party’s Over’, her dad’s pep talk with her in the driver’s seat of her dream car after she gets her drivers license, and more. This meant that, even after six months of editing, the first cut was 27 hours long. Speaking to Billboard, Cutler explained that structure helped and while he had wanted to film to end with Eilish’s performance at the Greek Theatre in 2019, that wasn’t going to be the case. Here, Eilish had played 18 hits (like ‘COPYCAT’, ‘idontwannabeyouanymore’ and ‘WHEN I WAS OLDER’) to a sold-out theatre – all the while sporting a boot on her left foot (she’d sprained her ankle falling down the stairs). Although the concert marked the end of a lengthy tour, it wasn’t the biggest thing to happen to the then 17-year-old.
“It [quickly] occurred to me that that was not a good place to stop. I think it was obvious to everybody that taking this to the Grammys would be a good idea.”
At the Grammy’s, Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell took home five awards: ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’, ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’.

To mark the drop, Eilish will take part in a global live premiere event on her own YouTube channel. The event will include an exclusive stripped-down performance by Eilish, special video packages from the film, an interview with Cutler, and an intimate conversation with Eilish especially for her fans (hosted by Zane Lowe of Apple Music). The festivities kick off at 10:00 am Malaysia time!
