Sigh. The #FreeBritney movement is still going strong—and won’t likely to stop anytime soon. Recently, princess of pop Britney Spears revealed that she is indeed “afraid” of her father and she vowed not to perform again while he is in charge of her estate.

The singer made a bid to break free from the control of her biological father, Jamie Spears, asking a Los Angeles judge to strip him of decision-making powers over her affairs. Her lawyer told the court there is no “viable working relationship” between Britney and her father and suggested they are no longer on speaking terms.
As a court-appointed conservator, he was handed control of the pop star’s financial affairs, career moves, and decisions in her personal life including who could visit her.
But what’s more surprising is that, despite the pleas and crowds of thousands of fans supporting the singer, the judge did not agree to remove Mr Spears as conservator. Mr Spears was appointed to the role 12 years ago after the 38-years-old singer suffered a very public breakdown—shaving her head, attacking photographers, and getting into a stand-off with police over the custody of her two children. And as a court-appointed conservator, he was handed control of the pop star’s financial affairs, career moves, and decisions in her personal life including who could visit her.

Lawyer Samuel D Ingham, representing Britney, told the court she has a fraught relationship with her father and “will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career”. He claimed the singer has told him “on many occasions that she is afraid of her father”, insisting they have not spoken in a “long while”.
This is truly so sad and terrifying. Let’s hope everything will go back to normal soon.
