From God of Thunder to a wrestling god?

Some may already know (for those of you who didn’t, *ahem*like me*ahem*), Chris Hemsworth has been signed on to embody one of the wrestling worlds biggest names – Hulk Hogan. The biopic about “the most recognized wrestling star worldwide and the most popular wrestler of the 1980s” (according to IGN) and subsequently, Hemsworth’s casting was announced last year. The 37-year-old Australian is already busy prepping for his role, having uploaded a picture of himself working out over the weekend, that – obviously – almost blew up the internet. In the photo, Hemsworth is seen mid-tire-flip, with the camera capturing the ‘Thor’ actor flexing everything he’s got.

And of course, the 67-year-old retired professional wrestler, television personality, actor, entrepreneur, and musician that Hemsworth is meant to embody, weighed in. While Terry Eugene Bollea (Hogan’s real name) agrees that Hemsworth’s physical progress is almost complete, he’s not quite sure if he’s got his ‘Sterling Golden’ good-looks down yet.

Jokes aside, Hogan – whose rise to fame was well documented in the 1980s with his participation in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) – has given the actor his stamp of approval for the titular biopic. It is said that the storyline will focus on his zero-to-hero story and the lead up to him being the ‘Hulkster’ who induced ‘Hulkamania’.

When asked about his prep for the upcoming biopic, Hemsworth told ‘Total Film’ (via Men’s Health UK),

“This movie is going to be a really fun project. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor,”

As for what other challenges he may face, Hemsworth elaborated:

“There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude,. I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing.”
