Asian-American comedian Awkwafina—from Crazy Rich Asian and Ocean’s 8—has named Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as her favourite food cities. Well, we’re not surprised after all. Malaysia is indeed a place where you can find various types of cuisines from different backgrounds.

The 32-years-old star was featured on Harper’s Bazaar food diary video series, which sees celebrities describing what their typical breakfast, lunch and dinner looks like. Awkwafina first named NYC as her first choice, then she continued, “Aside from that, I really enjoyed the food when I went to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, they had this dish called Hainan(ese) chicken (rice) and roti canai. I’m obsessed with it,’’ before adding, “KL was definitely a cool food city for me.” YAS GURL!
The actress rose to fame after starring in 2018’s Crazy Rich Asian. Portraying the quirky, colourful, down-to-earth Peik Lin. The movie—which was mostly shot in Singapore—there’s also part of the film that was shot in KL, which was probably how she got to taste the local fare. Thanks for the shoutout, girl!
