A trend where social media influencers are cast in films and TV shows has been going on for a while, and veteran Fizz Fairuz is not happy with the attitudes of these youngins.
The star of ‘Jiwa Taiko’ and ‘Munafik’ said that these influencers have no discipline and cannot even be bothered to memorise scripts. And he is not the only one!
Fellow actor Rusdi Ramli has also voiced the same complaints regarding the new structure of the filmmaking scene in Malaysia.

“This has been going on forever bro @rusdiramliofficial, there’s no point talking about it. It’s not the same anymore. How many have spoken out about this? Yet nothing has changed. This is because they have a good budget, they have a manager, they have a PA. But they lack discipline and don’t memorize the script. It is what it is. They don’t even have respect (for the veterans) and can even ask, “Who’s that? I don’t know them…” (laughs) The followers have all the power now,” Fizz said on Instagram in response to Rusdi.
Actress Izara Aishah also took a stand on Twitter a month ago, where she questions Instagram influencers who get huge acting offers and whether or not they have the passion. The 29-year old actress, who has starred in various local films such as ‘Pilot Cafe’ and ‘KL Zombie’, and even more TV series such as ‘Friday I’m in Love’ and ‘Vanila Coklat’, tweeted that,
“Some of them are not even interested to act. My time, we had to go for auditions. Our passion is to really become an actor. We studied performing arts to get into the industry. The effort we put in is nothing like how it is now.”
