Ygritte and Jon Snow are expecting a child together!
Okay, no, not really. But the actors that played the fiery couple onscreen – who just so happen to be husband and wife offscreen – are welcoming a little one to their family. In a photoshoot for Make Magazine, 33-year-old Rose Leslie confirmed that she’s expecting her and husband Kit Harington’s first child together. In a gorgeous black dress, an equally beautiful, beaming Leslie can be seen gently supporting her back as her outfit hugs her baby bump. The magazine’s fashion editor, Ursula Lake, published the black and white image of Leslie on Instagram alongside the caption,
“A very special all-women team photographic shoot capturing Rose at this wonderful time as she prepares for motherhood for the first time!”

In the interview with the magazine, Leslie revealed that both herself and her hubby were spending their time in quarantine in a Tudor manor house in Britain’s East Anglia area, of which Leslie refers to as “the house that Jon Snow built”. Describing the area (which is literally in the countryside) as a “glorious thing”, she also said of the manor:
“It’s incredibly old. We have a thatched roof, which currently has an enormous hornet’s nest in it. I do love to think about the house and all the people who have lived there. Were they happy, how did they live? All the families passing under those ancient beams.”
The couple first met on the set of HBO’s cult-favourite TV show ‘Game of Thrones’ back in 2012, with Leslie playing the arrow-shooting Ygritte to Harington’s Jon Snow. And although their onscreen romance was brief, their offscreen relationship blossomed.
The couple only confirmed their relationship in April 2016, after having dated for six years (they reportedly split briefly in 2013) before getting married in 2018. Harington has spoken about their relationship, confessing to Vogue that he had fallen in love with Leslie while shooting Game of Thrones in Iceland. Harington stated:
“The three weeks in Iceland when we were shooting the second season. Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love. If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love…”
Thankfully, the end of Leslie’s arc in Game of Thrones (and effectively her romance with Jon Snow) in Season 4 was not the end of the actors’ romance. After publicly confirming their engagement in 2017, they got married in a fairytale-like church service in Scotland the following year.
A hearty congratulations to the parents to be! We’re hoping for more quirky moments with their soon-to-arrive plus one!
