Background

HYBE formerly known as BigHit Entertainment has dropped yet another bomb!

The entertainment agency has been teasing debut plans for ages, and now with the buyout of Ithaca Holdings from Scooter Braun who manages high-profile clients including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, it seems that 2021 will be the year where things really gear up. The huge corporation has many plans throughout the year in store for fans, with auditions coming very soon in 2020 and 2021.

It was also numerously reported, BigHit Entertainment will be debuting a localized Japanese group, mid-2021, while they have plans for a new boy group in 2022! Could there be a BTS 2.0? This corroborates with the online auditions they have been holding throughout 2020, specifically only for boys. The company, which currently manages K-pop artists has BTS, Seventeen, TXT, NU’EST, GFriend and ENHYPEN, we will be patiently waiting to witness the launch of new artists through its labels!

In a corporate filing on April 2, HYBE cited the successful debuts of TXT and ENHYPEN. It said TXT, which was launched in 2019, has been successful with numerous beginner awards. In the document it filed with a government agency, HYBE said Source Music, which manages GFriend, will debut a female idol group this year while Pledis Entertainment, the agency of Seventeen and NU’EST, will launch a male idol group the next year.

At the moment, HYBE is heavily dependent on K-pop superstars BTS, which accounted for 84.7 percent of the company’s sales in 2020 and 97.4 percent in 2019. It simply means more money is coming through and BTS might just get a well-deserved break!
