In a recent interview with Vogue, ‘Lose You To Love Me’ hitmaker and Disney alum Selena Gomez revealed that she was contemplating quitting music. Despite being named after the iconic Selena Quintanilla, Gomez unfortunately, still feels like she hasn’t made as much of an impact as her namesake in the music industry
“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.”
Following this heartbreaking revelation, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar herself has shown up for the 28-year-old, to say…

Of course, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ singer can’t exactly stop Gomez from doing what she wants. But, the rapper – who, by the way, was born in the same year as Gomez, making her also 28 – offered her support by supporting her music and saying “love to give her some ideas” to reinvent herself.

And what kind of era does Cardi have in mind for Gomez? According to her, Gomez should give one last hurrah at music a go by going into “a b**** I’m nice sweet girl but I’m a rich bad b**** too” era. She went on to compliment Gomez for being as sweet in person as she portrays herself in the media. Cardi also commended her for staying true to herself even when the media picks apart celebrities.

The sweetest bit of this whole thing though is probably the last line of Cardi’s tweet, which reads:
“If she wants to leave, leave cause you want to not cause of these f******,”
There’s so much weight in those words as, at the end of the day, when a decision is made because it’s what you think other people want, you’re going to be left with so many regrets and “what if’s”.

The good news is that, maybe, Gomez might actually take up Cardi’s offer. In the same interview, she pondered:
“I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”
At present, Gomez is gearing up to drop her first-ever full Spanish album, “Revelación”. The album will include her recently released tracks “Baila Conmigo,” “De Una Vez,” and “Selfish Love” as well as unreleased tracks “Buscando Amor,” “Vicio,” and “Adios.”

If she does retire from music, does this mean Gomez will be backing away from the entertainment industry as a whole? Not really, as she intends to focus on producing (like what she did with Netflix’s ’13 Reasons Why’) and return to her acting roots. Maybe Gomez will take Bronx-native’s advice and bring out a different side of herself for one last time? Fingers crossed!
