Twitter has no chill. The inauguration of the 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden, and Vice President, Kamala Harris, saw Twitter trends regarding the ceremony that marked the commencement of a new four-year term for the duo. However, one such Twitter trend that stood out was the name “Jason”.
Now, upon further inspection, the trend seems to have multiple Jasons’ attached to it: 18th Premier of Alberta Jason Kenny, actor Jason Isaacs and ‘Whatcha Say’ singer Jason Derulo. Of the three, the reason for Desrouleaux (yes, that’s Derulo’s real name) to be included in the trend is the most unexpected yet hysterical. As it turns out, someone in the Twitterverse decided to circulate this image of Desrouleauxfalling down the stairs while claiming that it happened during the inauguration ceremony.

After all, with the Twitterverse doing things like this…

It’s not at all surprising that people actually believe that Desrouleaux fell!

However, the image of Desrouleaux falling is actually one of a random person at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. That’s right, it’s not even him! This joke first started in 2015 when someone on the internet randomly decided that this mystery man in a white suit looked like Desrouleaux and tweeted that he had fallen down the steps of the Met Gala. At the time, Desrouleaux responded saying that he wasn’t there and that the unfortunate soul captured tumbling wasn’t him. Nevertheless, in 2018, the same image started circulating, with people again claiming that Desrouleaux had fallen down the steps of the Met Gala.

Twitter, of course, doesn’t give a hoot about the fact that this isn’t Desrouleaux and are happy to roll with the punches.
I know I shouldn’t laugh but-

Will people ever let this meme die? Who knows, but here’s us doing out part in debunking the idea that it is Desrouleaux in the picture – and laughing at the sheer hilarity of the memes that have cropped up.
