Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jay Chou successfully raised HK$3.31 million (RM1.77 million) for charity after auctioning off four of his performance costumes recently.
The money that was planned for a donation towards Make-A-Wish International was collected at a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong last Friday, according to Focus Taiwan.
Jay Chou shared a moment from the auction that showed one of the items, which was a white glove, through an Instagram posting.

The outfits, auctioned in three sets at Sotheby’s “Contemporary Curated: Asia” auction, included a studded leather jacket that the singer wore on stage during his 2016-2018 “The Invincible” world tour. According to the auction company, the costume sold at HK$1.26 million (RM672,553) was designed by stylist Tomas Chan. After auction activities ended, Jay Chou encouraged those who were successful in bidding to wear the outfits, take a photo and hashtag his Instagram account.
“I’m very happy and honoured to become the curator and to be able to narrow the distance between the public and art,” he said.

Aside from singing, Jay Chou is also known for his role alongside Seth Rogan in the 2011 action-comedy film “The Green Hornet” as Kato.
It’s a great initiative by the Taiwanese to do good and we applaud his efforts. Well done Kato!
