Just FYI, Noah Centineo Is Absolutely *Ripped* & Ready To Play A Superhero

today27 April 2021

Background

Superhero transformations are always mindblowing – and no, we’re not talking about “transformations”  à la Winx Club.

No, we’re talking about the physical transformations that actors and actresses go through after months on months of torture training, in order to take up the mantle of their comic book superhero counterparts on the big screen. One such actor who has been doing just that these days is Noah Centineo. If you’ve been sleeping on the 24-year-old ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ star’s transformation, it’s time you see it.

DC’s Shazam! spin-off, Black Adam, will see Dwayne Johnson as the titular ancient Egyptian named Teth-Adam (i.e., “Mighty Adam”), enemy to Zachary Levi’s ‘Shazam’. Centineo’s part in the DCU movie, as Atom Smasher (real name Albert “Al” Rothstein), will see him as the metahuman with the power of growth and super strength.

In the DC comics, Rothstein is the godson of the first Golden Age Atom – Al Pratt – who later took up the mantle as the superhero known as Atom Smasher or Nuklon. In the comics, Atom Smasher has been a member of the Justice League, Justice Society, Infinity, Inc., Suicide Squad and the Conglomerate. The Black Adam movie will see both Johnson and Centineo star alongside Pierce Brosnan as Dr Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman,  and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Black Adam is set to drop July 29, 2022 (for now), and will likely tie in with the upcoming Shazam sequel, Shazam! Fury of The Gods (tentatively set for release June 2, 2023).
