Justin Bieber Set The Standards For Romantic Gestures With New ‘Anyone’ Video

today1 February 2021

After kicking off 2021 with the release of ‘Anyone’, Justin Bieber has dropped an early Valentines Day present for his wife Hailey Bieber. The couple, who got married on the tail end of 2018, has not shied away from showing off their affection for each other on social media. And now, setting the bar for romantic gestures, Bieber has immortalised their love with a new music video to accompany the loving song.

With Hailey Bieber (nΓ©e Baldwin) front and centre, the video is basically a love letter to his wife of close to three years now. The black and white video puts together a mix of what appears to be self-recorded footage as well as behind the scenes clips of the two from various previous projects. The pair are seen cuddling, laughing, holding hands and generally showing their love for each other as Bieber sings about his love for his wife:

“Lookin’ back on my life, you’re the only good I’ve ever done / Forever’s not enough time to / Love you the way that I want,”

This is the second video released for the same song, although the first was more of the normal movie-like production that goes into music videos, than the homemade montage above. The first video for β€˜Anyone’ took inspiration from the wildly popular β€˜Rocky’ franchise (written by and starring Sylvester Stallone). In it, β€˜Rocky’ is tattoo-less as he goes from an uneducated, kind-hearted working class debt collector for a loan shark in the slums of Philadelphia to the world heavyweight champion. In a similar vein, Bieber is seen training to be a boxer, Β defeating opponents until he has his shot at the title and sharing loving moments with his onscreen costar Zoey Dutch.

He went through a bit of a transformation for the video, appearing sans his 40+ tattoos. Bieber’s since shared the painstaking work that went into getting his tattoos covered up but says it was all worth it in order to share the message of the song effectively.

“Music has gotten us all through so much this year, and for me personally it’s been healing and transformative. β€˜Anyone’ is such a special, hopeful, anthemic song. It sets the tone for a brighter new year full of hope and possibility.”
