K-Pop Idols Who Went From Rags To Riches!

today30 April 2021

Background

We often see our K-Pop idols clad in the latest fashions from the most upscale brands, but it hadn’t always been that way! Some of them actually started from humble beginnings, and it is their own blood, sweat and tears that got them to where they are now.

1. Leeteuk

Bright, cheerful smiles can be deceiving. Leeteuk comes from a troubled home life, where his family was not only poor but was also constantly fighting. He was also abused by his father who eventually committed suicide after murdering Leeteuk’s grandparents.

“I was suffering from depression when I heard the news that my father and grandparents had passed,” he revealed.

But he rose above his circumstances and is now one of the biggest stars in the nation!

2. Yunho

Yunho’s father went bankrupt when Yunho was a teenager, leaving him no choice but to learn to support himself and his younger sister at the age of 12 years old. Things got worse when he decided to pursue his dream as a trainee, at the disapproval of his father. Due to this, his father held back all financial support to the point where Yunho was forced to sleep on the floors of train stations.

But hey, just look at him now!

3. Jaejoong

When Jaejoong was a little boy, his birth mother was forced to give him up for adoption as she was not able to make ends meet. However, poverty still followed Jaejoong when he moved to Seoul by himself at the age of 15 to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. The whole time, he took up various part-time jobs and even donated blood at the bank just to pay his rent, food and training fees.

So if you ever feel down in the dumps, don’t be discouraged. Everyone starts from the bottom. Stay strong, persevere, and you’ll make it!
