Ever heard the phrase it’s a man’s world?
Well, its especially prevalent in the Hollywood scene with the amounts of rape allegations as well as the obvious salary difference between actors and actresses, and one star has just about enough, Keira Knightley will no longer perform intimate scenes under a male director present. This decision also comes to the actress after becoming a mom.

“It’s partly vanity and also it’s the male gaze,” Knightley revealed to Diane Solway in a recent interview. “If I was making a story that that’s what it’s about, it was about that journey of motherhood and body acceptance – and I feel like, I’m sorry, but that would have to be with a female filmmaker – I don’t have an absolute ban. But I kind of do with men,” she said. “I don’t want it to be those horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody is grunting. I’m not interested in doing that.”

Knightley did clarify that this doesn’t mean she’s not open or willing to do these scenes again, it simply only means that she won’t do one with a male director. Keira is one of the many actress who stood behind the “Me Too” movement, voicing out that actors have a limited amount of power in Hollywood.
