Well, I wouldn’t be crying…
Melinda Gates reportedly rented a $132,000 a night private island for her and her family in order to avoid media personnel following her divorce from her husband, Bill Gates.
The couple made a public announcement to end their marriage last Monday (3/05/2021): “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”

Despite that, there are sources that told TMZ that they actually planned to announce it in March, which is when Melinda rented Calivigny Island in Grenada.
Apparently, the plan was for Melinda and their three children (along with their partners) to stay on that island, with Bill being left out. Sources said that the family has taken Melinda’s side for the most part of the divorce, and that it is not a “friendly split”.
But Melinda has nothing to worry about as on the day they announced their intentions to divorce, the Microsoft founder’s investment firm transferred $1.8bn in stock to his (now) ex-wife, according to Bloomberg.

Among all their children, only their eldest, Jennifer (25), shared a statement following the divorce.

“By now, many of you have heard the news that my parents are separating,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram. “It’s been a challenging stretch of time for our whole family.
While the island is beautiful, we do wish the Gates family the best in the future.
