When it came to being around a certain member of Backstreet Boys, there was a period when NSYNC star Chris Kirkpatrick couldn’t take no more, and it ain’t no lie.

The singer joined Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean over the weekend to perform their new single “Air” as part of the Music For Life fundraiser and at a sit-down between himself, McLean and 98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons, Kirkpatrick revealed that, well, he wasn’t always particularly fond of the Backstreet Boys member.
“There was a time when I couldn’t be in the same room with this guy,” Kirkpatrick shared. “But there’s always been a mutual respect, and now that we’re all parents, we’ve grown up. Reflecting on things, it’s cool to see what each of the bands did and how it all worked together.”
Pointing out the boy band community back in 2000, he explained,
“It really was this symbiotic relationship with Backstreet, 98 Degrees, us and even O-Town and other bands that came in.”
McLean agreed that Kirkpatrick, Timmons and himself have developed a close bond. He compared themselves to “the Three Stooges.” Timmons expressed that back in the day, 98 Degrees didn’t feel much competition with the other groups but Kirkpatrick was quick to disagree.

“That’s a lie!” he exclaimed. “Back in the day, there was competitiveness. There were underlying things that we all had. I was afraid of you!”
It’s really nice to reflect on how these guys had grown up together the way we did with their music.
