NU’EST Opens Up About Their Second Album ‘Romanticise’

today21 April 2021

Background

K-pop boy band NU’EST began their foray into the music industry in March 2012 (that’s nearly a decade ago!) with the release of their debut single ‘Face’. The single holds a significant role in society, functioning as an anthem against bullies.  Now stepping forward with their second album ‘Romanticise’, the boys are ready to show everyone how far they have grown since!

Baekho, the 25-year-old member of the boyband reflects that,

“We debuted at a relatively early age. I think the experience that we had as we grew as a team is also something that shaped us. The experience has shaped us so we want to show how we’ve changed, that’s what drives us.”

Besides the single ‘Inside Out’, ‘Romanticise’ offers nine other tracks that boast solos from each member.

“We chose Romanticize and romance as the theme of the album because romance is something that can be very close or very far from you,” says Baekho. “Everybody has different ideas of what romance or being romantic is. Everyone listening will have different expectations and understandings of romance as we relay it through our song, and we thought that’d be a cool experience for our audience.”

The leader of the pack, JR, explains that,

“I think it’s impossible to define romance or being romantic in one word or phrase. Sadness, joy … those emotions can be associated with romantic feelings.”

He went on to say,

“[Romance] can be associated with raining, snowing, or a sunny day depending on your experience. I think that the broadness of how you define ‘romantic’ is what’s really appealing for us. For us, while working, we were really curious to learn about the other members’ impressions and thoughts on romance and being romantic, so that was an important and interesting experience for us, and we hope listeners can hear that too.”
