Cause and effect?
Though a few days have passed, the issue of Neelofa being compounded due to a breach of SOPs during her wedding remains the talk of the town. And for any of you who somehow missed the drama:

Recently, the jewellery brand Swarovski released a statement through their Twitter account that they are no longer affiliated with Neelofa. The statement came following a question from a fellow netizen who compared Malaysian artists with those from Korea.

Twitter user @azba95 quoted a tweet about Neelofa’s compound details saying that if Neelofa was a Korean artist, the heat of the issue would have her partnership with brands terminated immediately. Swarovski was quick to respond, saying:
“Thank you for reaching out. We can confirm that we’re no longer working with Neelofa.”
An interesting fact is that Neelofa was the first woman hijabi woman (since back in 2017) to be featured on a billboard advert for the international jewellery brand. Her wedding dress was also covered in 5,000 Swarovski crystals. Another Twitter user expressed their feeling of disappointment regarding Neelofa’s partnership with Swarovski as well.

Our actions bear consequences, and must always be thought through. What started out as a happy occasion (her wedding) has now been marred with controversy. With that being said, it is important to continue adhering to the SOPs put in place to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Let us continue doing our parts in flattening the curve.
