Selena Gomez is baring it all!
The singer-songwriter shares in a recent interview with Song Exploder, behind her No.1 tear jerking song Lose You To Love Me on how the song was one of the hardest to create and record. The Instagram icon spoke openly on her private life, heartbreaks and dating while being in the public eye.

Selena collaborated with Grammy winning production duo Mattman & Robin as well as her long-time songwriting collaborators Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter in creating the heart bearing song, but the story and meaning behind it all came from the artist having to let things go.
“This song alone represents what a lot of people who are heartbroken have gone through,” she explained. “One of the hardest parts for me to sing in the song was the bridge. It’s the ending of the song, and that’s the part where it’s like, ‘You know, I guess this is goodbye forever for us.’ And that killed me.”

Selena poured her heart into the song, one can truly feel her pain from her lyrics that goes like such:
“And now the chapter is closed and done / To love, love, yeah / To love, love, yeah / To love, yeah / And now it’s goodbye, it’s goodbye for us,” Gomez sings in the song.

We Heart It
“When Julia came in and was talking about what her and Selena had discussed, it was really wanting to address like head-on what Selena had been through—the heartbreak, the emotional roller coaster, but really portray that she is on the other side of it,” Tranter shared.
The singer also revealed how the chanting portion of the song had so much more meaning than one world ever know.

“The chanting was such an important part of the song, and it’s the part where it’s cliché sort of open your arms wide and just scream and let all of it out. I felt like that was so beautiful.”
The song has gone to become one of Selena’s first number-one hit, double-platinum in the US, and was named one of the best songs of the year by Vulture and Billboard.
