The Mysterious Illness Surrounding Malaysian ‘Real Spin’ Ex-Vocalist

today10 April 2021

Background

Back in the 90s, the local music industry was taken by storm when a band called Spin entered the music scene. Unfortunately, the lead singer of the band, known as Achik (Abdillah Murad bin Md. Shari) passed away from an accident that claimed his life about a decade ago in 2010.

His younger brother, Khalis, was recruited into a new band called Real Spin which was founded after his untimely death by two former members of Spin.

Struck by an unidentified illness, Khalis was hospitalised at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar (HTJ) on Wednesday. Khalis’ younger brother, known as Tajul (Tajul Arif Noor Md Shari) was contacted by a local newspaper recently.

He stated that he himself is unable to find out what disease is threatening his brother’s life, but denied the possibility that his brother was hexed.

“Wallahualam, I have no idea what ails him either. But judging from his photo, people would understand how sick he is. He’s been really ill since four days ago until he couldn’t even walk. All he could do was lie down. He is barely even coherent,” explained Tajul.

Tajul, who is also a singer himself, added that his family tried seeking traditional treatment two days ago prior to speaking with the local newspaper and that his brother showed improvements.

“He could walk and talk. But the next day, he got sick again and family members had to send him to the hospital,” he added.

“I haven’t been able to go back to Seremban to visit him, but I always ask my siblings in Seremban about how he’s doing.”

Khalis’ declining health raised so many questions when a picture of him looking pale white and rail-thin as he was being carried by someone went viral on Facebook.

As far as Tajul knows, his brother doesn’t have any other diseases except diabetes. He also asked the public to pray for his brother’s health.

“I really want to go back to see him. Maybe if I get instate travel admission, I’ll go back,” he said.

We wish Khalis a speedy recovery and hope that he gains his spark back.
