Vanessa Hudgens Proves That Sliding Into DMs Really Does Work

today10 May 2021

Fans of Disney’s High School Musical would remember that Vanessa Hudgens’ most notorious relationship was with co-star Zac Efron, but those days are long gone.

Back in November last year, Hudgens teased a new relationship but bided her time until Valentine’s Day to officially reveal her relationship on Instagram with Major League Baseball player Cole Tucker.

“It’s you, it’s me, it’s us. @cotuck ❤️???,” she captioned the sweet photo of the two of them kissing.

And if you think that the lovely quote sounds familiar, it’s a quote from Netflix’s ‘Haunting of Bly Manor’.

Looking for love in the pandemic can be tricky, so Hudgens resorted to the convenience of modern dating instead. She revealed that she met her beau on Zoom a few months before the COVID-19 lockdown began.

“I remember in quarantine I was like, Cool, I’m single now and I can’t meet anybody, so I guess I’ll go on a dating app,” she said during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. “But I always said I would never go on a dating app, and then I found myself on a dating app and I was like, ‘I hate myself!’”

Hudgens even stopped using the app and “gave up for a minute.” This is probably a wise move though, considering the abundance of controversies revolving around celebrities who have recently been exposed on Raya.

It all began when a friend invited her to join their weekly Zoom meditation group…

“Everyone’s sending, like, GIFs of themselves,” Hudgens told Barrymore regarding their group chat.

You know who else is on the group chat? Yup, stars like Joe Jonas and Wilmer Valderrama!

“Then there’s, like, a GIF in the group chat of a baseball player, and he’s slamming onto a base and I thought it was a joke. So I just responded, ‘hot.’”’

As fate would have it, Tucker was actually there when Hudgens got on the Zoom.

Barrymore prodded further, asking Hudgens who made the first move.

“I’m such a go-getter. If I want something or someone, I’m going after him,” she replied. “I fully just slid into his DMs and was like, ‘Hey it was nice to meet you.’ I think there’s no shame in making the first move. If you want it, why wait for someone else to give you what you want?”

Go get’em, girl!
