In a video promoting Bill Nye’s Earth Day special, various celebrities are seen talking about Earth Day, what it means and the importance of the special. Bill Nye the Science Guy brings together Justin Bieber, Maluma, Dixie and Charli D’Amelio, Steve Aoki and more to talk about climate change. However, it is Zac Efron’s appearance in the 12-minute long video that thas caught the attention of fans. At the one minute 50 seconds mark, the 33-year-old ‘High School Musical’ star comes up, but his face is slightly swollen, his jaw more pronounced and his lips more distinctive.
After seeing the video, many commented on his appearance, with one saying “in the past 5 minutes I have seen several recent photos of zac efron and his face has been a different shape in every single one of them,” and another joking that he’d now have trouble unlocking his phone using Face ID. Many more have taken to the Twitterverse to question the change in his appearance:

On TikTok, Dr. Anthony Youn (a board-certified plastic surgeon) reacted to the change in Zac Efron’s appearance with a simple explanation: it was probably the result of dental surgery.
“If you’ve had your wisdom teeth taken out, did you look like this? I can’t imagine a plastic surgeon injecting these areas to change them in this way. Looks more like postop swelling to me. Prob will look normal soon.”

Nevertheless, this Twitter user pointed out the most important aspect of this whole situation: that it is not okay to body shame. A similar incident with Marvel actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani also came up not too long ago, where internet trolls were quick to condemn the actor’s hard work as the result of “steroids” and as simply being “too fit”.
