The Gossip Girl reboot has been filming for more than a month now—and judging by the fans ‘ reactions to set photos and teasers, yes, it’s safe to say there will be a lot of people watching when the show premieres in 2021.
However, it seems original cast member Leighton Meester, aka Blair Waldorf or Queen B, might not be among them. In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Leighton’s husband, Adam Brody (star of another iconic teen series, The O.C.), admitted the couple probably won’t be loyal viewers of the new show. “I highly doubt we’ll watch it front to back,” he said. “I don’t think we’re the audience, but I’m sure we’ll dip our toes in.” Oh nooooo!

As for whether or not Leighton will dust off her headbands and reprise her role for an episode or two, that remains unclear—though seemingly unlikely. In 2019, Leighton told E! News that she was never asked about appearing in the reboot. “No one’s ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don’t know,” she said at the time. “No one’s sent me that information, it’s coming from you.”
Until then, we’ll just have to watch as many of the old episodes as possible before the original GG series leaves Netflix, and then devote our energy to studying every detail of the new show’s sneak peeks.
