Sarah Jessica Parker Said The SATC Reboot Will Have A COVID-19 Storyline

today2 February 2021

Background

After news of the Sex and the City reboot was released, I couldn’t help but wonder…. if the series would include COVID-19 storylines? The new HBO Max show, And Just Like That, will follow our favorite (excluding Samantha) Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda “navigate love and friendship in their 50s,” according to Variety. And Sarah Jessica Parker is spilling some details fans can expect from the revival!

“[COVID-19 will] obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in,” SJP told Vanity Fair. “And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all.” She added that And Just Like That… has new writers who she thinks will bring new “life experience, political world views, and social world views” to the storyline.

Kim Cattrall who played Samantha has openly spoken about her hatred of reprising her role… Yup there’s some tea on that too.. Speaking to The Guardian in 2009, she said, “Now I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself. I want to choose who I spend time with personally and professionally. It’s my life. I went past the finish line playing Samantha Jones because I loved Sex and the City. It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie, I’d had enough. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t just replace me with another actress instead of wasting time bullying. No means no.”

The question on everyone’s mind is “When is the premiere date??” Well, the show is set to go into production in late spring in New York City, Variety reports. With that timetable, episodes *might* drop in late 2021 or early 2022. But, I have a feeling that it’ll be worth the wait!
