The ultimate next move has been made for The Queen’s Gambit series, and it’s a big one… a musical!
Level Forward announced that they’ve finally acquired the rights to turn Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel, The Queen’s Gambit, into a musical. This comes after Netflix’s successive TV drama adaptation of the novel.
For those unfamiliar with the story, The Queen’s Gambit follows an orphaned at the tender age of nine, prodigious introvert Beth Harmon discovers and masters the game of chess in 1960s USA. But child stardom comes at a price.

Fans were not surprised that the streaming series The Queen’s Gambit is heading to the stage as the show has clearly captivated viewers and fans alike. The streaming giant’s take on The Queen’s Gambit hit 62 million viewers within the first four weeks. The miniseries stole the show at the 26th annual Critics Choice Award, won Best Limited Series and Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for Taylor-Joy.

As well as nabbed the Golden Globes for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, and for Anya Taylor-Joy’s lead performance.
