After teasing their fantasy series of an old cartoon The Winx Club, Netflix has released a full-length trailer Fate: The Winx Saga. The new show, a live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon series imagines the fairies’ story with of course a darker twist, thanks to creator Brian Young, who previously worked on The Vampire Diaries.

The series is described as the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their powers while navigating their personal lives as teens with love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence.

As fans of the show growing up, many could tell the stark difference in skin tones for certain characters and immediately flocked to Twitter to post side-by-side images of the original cartoon and the streaming giant’s series, pointing out a downgrade in quality. We couldn’t agree more!
hilarious people will defend netflix winx by saying its for breaking standards but see how the main girl is still white, pretty and the helper roles are either poc or different than standards, if its okay to whitewash musa and flora they could’ve make bloom a black or asian girl pic.twitter.com/qyOoRWIGsf
