That’s right! ‘Resident Evil’ may have started as a video game series, but its immense popularity meant that its universe soon expanded to include feature films (six of them, to be exact), an upcoming live-action TV series, comic books, novels, audio dramas and more. And while it may be a surprise that they didn’t first branch off into anime right after the game became The Best-Selling horror game series,  fans of the franchise won’t have to wait much longer! 25 years after the world was first introduced to ‘Resident Evil’ (or ‘Biohazard’, as it’s known in some places), Netflix is dropping the first in the series history: an original CG anime series titled…

 

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

 

The announcement for the CG serialized drama was officially made at the virtual 2020 Tokyo Game Show, but fans were left in the dark as to when the series would actually be released.  Now, along with the release date, Netflix has also dropped a trailer for the highly-anticipated series. Set to appear are popular characters Leon S. Kennedy (voiced by Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (voiced by Stephanie Panisello), from ‘Resident Evil 2’. The main trailer teases some of the events that Leon and Claire will face, including scenes of the battlefield, zombie attacks, and “a Tyrant shrouded in mystery”.

 

 

Earlier, Netflix revealed that the series will take place in 2006 after a hacking incident occurs on a top-secret White House file. Ordered to investigate the incident, Leon is then attacked by a horde of zombies. Later,  he bumps into Claire, who is there to construct a welfare facility. Haunted by a drawing she received from a child, which appears to depict a victim of viral infection, Claire starts her own investigation. The story follows the characters as they uncover the mystery behind the two outbreaks, where…
