5 Vegan Restaurants In KL With Creative, Drool-Worthy Alternatives To Your Fave Dishes

today11 March 2021

Background

More often than not, the misconception about vegan food is that vegans don’t have that many options when it comes to food. Whether it be options for places to eat or for tasty food, not being able to consume foods containing dairy, meat and other animal products doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the case. If anything, having to find alternatives for non-vegan recipes means more space and leeway for creativity! The following local businesses have done exactly that by taking everyday recipes and making them healthier, better and just as amazing as their non-vegan counterparts! And the best part? They deliver! So if you’ve ever wondered:

“Does vegan food taste good?”

“How can food be yummy without meat or butter or eggs??”

“Aren’t vegans missing out?”

Let the food at these local vegan restaurants do the talking 😉

In Spanish, Sala means “living-room” and is also an acronym for ‘slavar a los animales’ (save the animals). Their 100% plant-based menu is Tex-Mex inspired, meaning it’s the perfect place to get your burrito/taco/nourish bowl fix. The items on the menu promise to deliver meals that are lower in calories and cholesterol while being higher in clean protein. Plus – their serving sizes are generous! This doesn’t mean that everything on the menu is foreign, however, as Sala also packs a serious punch with their nasi lemak, nasi ulam, curry laksa and dhal chawal options.

Opening Hours: Daily; Hartamas (11am- 10pm) / The Row (11am- 7pm) / Waterfront Desa Park City (10pm- 10pm)

With that in mind, she established Sprout Plant-Based Fusion in 2020. Their gorgeous menu includes smoothies and smoothie bowls, toasties (with fun names like ‘Elvis Presley’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet), salads (their bestseller is ‘Zucchini Di Sini’ LOL), small plates, options for kids and baked goods!

Vegan sushi?????? You betcha! As the 1st restaurant offering plant-based sushi in Malaysia, Sushi Kitchen has been making waves since its establishment in 2009.
