OSTs That Will Give You ‘Main Character Syndrome’

today6 May 2021

Background

You know that ‘sendu’ feeling that makes you feel overly melancholy and…dare we say, a little dramatic? And so you look up songs that can help elevate those feelings just a little more, and make you feel like you are the star of your own little movie.

We gotchuuuuu!

Here are some songs you can blast in your earphones while you stare out the window on public transportations, or on the speaker while you stand under the running shower!

1. ‘Wait’ by M83

Honestly, any song by M83 will get you feeling like nothing else exists in this world but your philosophical angst and heartache, but this one knocks it right out of the park! No matter how old you are, ‘Wait’ will make you feel young and whole again despite a few missing pieces, ready to take on the world.

2. ‘All I Want’ by Kodaline

Mourning the one that got away? Don’t worry, you’re not alone — this is why this song exists! It’s okay to cry your heart out to this one. It can be rather therapeutic, too. And the line, “If you loved me, why’d you leave me?” is so relatable it honestly hurts.

3. ‘The Night We Met’ by Lord Huron

You’ve probably heard this on Netflix’s ‘13 Reasons Why’. This song evokes feelings of nostalgia for somewhere you’ve never been, or someone you’ve never met. Sure, loneliness can feel physically painful but someday you will find what you’re looking for.

Our emotions can get pretty overbearing sometimes, but you always have a choice to reign it in and channel it through music, or whatever strikes your boat. It’s cathartic.
