After a long and tedious search Disney Plus has found their leading lady for the series Ms. Marvel!
Newcomer Iman Vellani has been chosen to play Ms. Marvel a.k.a. Pakistani American Kamala Khan, Marvel and the giant streamer also recently named Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon as directors on the project. We LOVE this diversity!

Iman will play a 16-year-old Muslim teenager based in Jersey City, New Jersey, and she constantly fantasizes on her favourite superheroes like Captain Marvel.

According to Marvel the character Kamala Khan, has “an Inhuman ability to alter shape and size [and] employs an idealistic attitude as much as any power to make the world a better place.”

A little backstory, Ms. Marvel first appeared as Marvel’s first Muslim character to star in her own title, and she will become Marvel Studios’ first onscreen Muslim hero. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said that in addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala Khan will be included in future Marvel films.

As of now both Disney Plus and Marvel declined to comment on the casting.
Congratulations Iman Vellani!
