(Trigger warning for violence and rape)
Eleven years ago (we’re THAT old?) we had what was probably the best music video of the year, which was Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” starring the sultry Megan Fox and Lost’s Dominic Monaghan. Collaborating with Barbadian singer Rihanna, the music video follows Fox and Monaghan’s characters as a couple in an abusive relationship, coloured by range and violence mixed in with moments of love and tenderness.
Looks like the trailer for Fox’s new film, Midnight in the Switchgrass, features a few scenes reminiscent of the music video when MGK’s (credited in the film as Colson Baker) tries to harm her during an intimate moment, before Fox, playing Rebecca Lombardi, gives him a few well-deserved hard punches to the face.
To avoid confusion, let’s make it clear that this film directed by Randall Emmett is NOT a romance film — in fact, it’s a crime thriller about FBI agents (played by Fox and Bruce Willis) who are on the hunt for the infamous real-life ‘Truck Stop Killer’ — and it doesn’t seem like Fox and MGK’s characters are lovers.
I mean, they are in real life though, but that’s another story.
Back to the ‘Truck Stop Killer’, his real name is Robert Benjamin Rhoades and he is an American serial killer slash rapist. He is suspected of torturing, raping, and killing more than fifty women within the span of 15 years. Portraying him in the film is Lukas Haas, and if he seems familiar, it’s because you probably recognised him from My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade” music video!

The film is scheduled for a 23rd July release this year, so stay tuned!
