Background

Ya’ll aren’t ready for this.

The upcoming South Korean romance film, ‘Happy New Year’ is bringing together some of the biggest names in the industry. And by big, we mean BIG. Heading the stellar cast is ‘Goblin’ actor Lee Dong Wook (who is also known for his parts in the hit series’ ‘My Girl’, ‘Scent of a Woman’, ‘The Fugitive of Joseon’, ‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed’) and actress Han Ji Min (‘Rooftop Prince’). Joining them is Girls Generation member Yoona (whose acting portfolio as Im Yoona includes ‘You Are My Destiny’, ‘ Love Rain’, ‘Prime Minister & I’, ‘Confidential Assignment’, and ‘Exit’) and Asia’s Prince, Lee Kwang Soo (who may be confused for a ‘comedian’, as per his role on ‘Running Man’, but is a well-established actor).

The movie is said to follow the lives of the different people who enter the doors of Hotel Emrose. As translated by myangelmystar, Han Ji Min will be taking on the role of Emross’ capable manager, who has been harbouring a crush on her best friend for the past 15 years. Lee Dong Wook, on the other hand, will be the hotel’s even-number obsessed CEO. Yoona will be the prideful hotelier (the person who runs or owns a hotel). Making up the ‘guests’ at the hotel is Lee Kwang Soo as a talent manager whose artist is nearing the end of his contract and is being poached by a big company. Kang Ha Neul will be playing the role of a heartbroken jobseeker.

Filming for the movie is currently underway, having kicked off on the 19th of April. The movie will be directed by Kwak Jae Yong, whose work includes ‘My Sassy Girl’, ‘Ark’, ‘My Girl and I’, and ‘Colours of Wind’.

The exception, perhaps, is the Oakland Coliseum, a memorable dumpster that has hosted Athletics games for more than 50 years. But with this week's release of MLB The Show 21, classic ballparks are […]
