Very fast indeed.
The pandemic has delayed and even canceled many events. But it certainly couldn’t stop Fast 9 from screening, and boy did it do major damage!
The action-adventure film earned the BIGGEST U.S. opening of this current pandemic era. The movie, which also screened in the U.K. this week earned an estimated $70 million in the American box office last weekend.

That was enough to kick the previous record owner A Quiet Place Part II that grossed $57.1 million during its respective weekend.
An impressive fact to add to that accomplishment is that Fast 9 is now on track to become one of the films to hit $100 million at the U.S. box office since the start of the pandemic.
This note of success marks an early sign of promise for the development of cinema in the future.

Universal and other Hollywood studios will see this as a comfortable start to push other summer releases such as Black Widow, even though the Marvel film will have a simultaneous VOD release via streaming service Disney+’s Premier Access.
Other blockbuster summer releases that will soon be released include Escape Room: Tournament of Champions and The Forever Purge.
