Ola Bola director Chiu Keng Guan has hit his highs in directing after his latest film On Your Mark tops China’s box office raking in RM24 million (RMB37 million) after just three days in cinemas. It’s his first-ever “made in China” project and is currently the countries top-selling film.

“This is beyond my expectations. Chinese movie-goers love it and have given me lots of good feedback. I hope my film will continue to do well at the box office, and I can’t wait to screen it in Malaysia,” said Chiu in a news report.
The film collected a whopping RM8.7 million (RMB13.65 million) at the box office when it premiered in Chinese cinemas last Friday.

On Your Mark, a tale of sportsmanship and family values is produced by Jiangsu Maoyan Culture Media, Wuxi Cangsheng Film, Tianjin Maoyan Weiying Culture Media, Jiangsu Hao Di Cultural Development, Sports Culture Development Centre of the State General Administration of Sports (China Sports Museum) and Astro Shaw.

Starring Wang Yanhui, Zhang Youhao, Gong Beibi, Feng Wenjuan, Li Junhao, and Liu Jinshan, it tells the story of Xiao Erdong, a young boy who aspires to become a marathon runner like his mother. However, Erdong’s father Xiao Daming does not approve of his son’s ambition, because he fears that Erdong may end up becoming partially blind like his mother.
Chiu Keng Guan, who directed Ola Bola, is also responsible for Think Big Big and Tiger Woohoo.
