Ready to scream and shout?
Director of Scream (2022) Tyler Gillett stated through Instagram that the movie had finished post-production and is fully finished.
It’s been more than a decade since “Scream 4” was released and had convinced many fans that Ghostface would no longer appear on the big screen. There was a short television series also titled Scream that ran for three seasons but was then cancelled. This left fans wondering if their favourite serial killer would ever make a comeback.

Previously after releasing “Scream 4”, director Wes Craven confirmed that he was contracted to work on a fifth and sixth instalment of the franchise. Unfortunately, the director never got a chance to make it happen as he passed away back in 2015. So now it’s up to directors Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin to carry on the torch, bringing back franchise mainstays Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette for the fifth film, simply titled Scream.

With post-production completely finished, it shouldn’t be long until an official trailer is released. Although the film is still roughly half a year away, there’s nothing wrong if the studio began building hype for Ghostface’s long-awaited return.
Despite the film’s impending release, details remain slim as to the plot of the sequel. Gale Weathers actress Cox has commented on Scream 5’s place in the franchise timeline, but the casts have sealed their lips about any of the details that could give away what’s in store for the film. Despite this, though, it’s clear that things will be quite different this time around.

When “Scream 4” was released in 2011, social media was still considered a new thing, and considering how Ghostface enjoyed terrorizing his victims on the phone, it’ll be interesting how Scream will play about this in its meta-commentary.
