The price of the durian type “D197” or most popularly known as “Musang King” is relatively pricey and has made the fruit exclusive and only those who can afford such a luxury can enjoy it.
However, Malaysia sees no lack of creative citizens as Nur Hanani Ismail and her brother Ahmad Najib Ismail have created a Musang King durian pizza for the enjoyment of durian lovers who are also fans of pizza. All this, most importantly at an affordable price tag.
Matter of fact, the sweetness of the durian fruit seems to match the salty and fatty flavour of the cheese on the pizza, especially when the pizza is cooked on wood, creating a wonderful smoky aroma.
“This Musang King durian pizza menu is something we created since last year and is only exclusive for the durian season. We know that this durian type is extremely expensive and many aren’t able to enjoy it. So with this pizza, at least our customers can enjoy the exclusive fruit type.”
She then explained to Bernama the breakdown of the expenses to create this unique pizza.
“We bought the Musang King fruit in the form of paste from a factory in Raub, Pahang at a price of RM100 per kilogram and froze it. A kilo of the paste can make about 30 pizzas.”
The pizzas are priced at RM12 for an 8 inch size and RM20 for the 11 inch.
