Kelantanese Man Forced To Sell Snacks To Feed His Family

today7 July 2021

“Nok wi makan anak bini, tokleh nok kijo.”

(I want to feed my kids and wife, I can’t work)

That was the written note on a piece of cardboard that was tied to a backpack carried around by Mohamad Amirul Adli Azman every day on his motorcycle selling snacks, specifically fried keropok lekor.

27-year-old Mohamad Amirul Adli Azman from Taman Sentosa, Selising said that the note wasn’t written to beg for sympathy but one of his initiatives to advertise to the public that he sells the snacks.

According to him, prior to this, he was on duty as a full-time restaurant assistant but now he only serves them part-time -three days a week to be exact- following the Movement Control Order (MCO).

In this present day, Amirul sells keropok lekor, which has been doing ever since the start of July where his restaurant was temporarily closed due to the MCO.

Everything he is currently doing is for his wife, 30-year-old Nor Laila Yusoff, who is only a housewife and their three children, 10-year-old Raja Muhammad Ariff, 7-year-old Raja Nur Amalin Aisyah, and 15-month-old Nur Adriana Mikayla.

“After the restaurant closed, I tried searching for another job but failed. That has led me to sell keropok lekor. Realistically, I don’t have start-up cash, but I took the supply anyway and the early challenge was finding customers. With my motorcycle, I ride around Kota Bharu and the attempt was successful as sales were showing signs of increasing.”

He also mentioned that his sales shot up drastically after Ahmad Fedtri Yahya -a TV3 personality- shared his story on Twitter.

Amirul rides around Tumpat, Kota Bharu, and even Tanah Merah, which is 38 kilometers from Pasir Puteh.
