This is truly #KitaJagaKita.

Entrepreneur and hip hop artist Caprice has set up a fund to assist burger seller Wan Mohd Faisal Wan Kadir. The 38-year-old burger seller was fined for operating beyond the MCO hours in Kota Baru. He was fined while preparing food for his final customers at around 11 pm; meanwhile, stalls are obliged to close at 10 pm daily. Wan Mohd Faisal claimed that there were no customers present when police showed up. He also added that since the MCO was in effect, only takeaway orders were allowed. The artist, who is also a motivational speaker, contacted Wan Mohd Faisal and got permission from the burger seller to set up a special fund to help pay the RM50,000 fine that he was issued last Sunday.

Caprice stated in the Instagram post:

“I’m setting up a public fund to help Faisal settle his compound, which he has to pay before May 9 (five days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri). Let’s all help him, kita jaga kita!”

Netizens praised Caprice for the initiative and lobbied together in agreement to help the burger seller. This user said: “Thank you Caprice for helping. I’ve been buying burgers from him for a long time. He is really humble, seriously. Hope everything goes well”

Meanwhile, the Kelantan police chief has clarified the reason for the maximum compound amount, saying that the burger seller breached the SOP several times prior to being fined. Since being fined, Wan has gone viral on Twitter, with netizens showing sympathy for him.

This user expressed their frustration seeing the reality of the situation: “Our country is becoming crazy. Thought they were going to buy 50k burgers, instead he got a 50k fine.”

We’re glad someone has stepped in and helped another Malaysian who is facing struggles. Truly the definition of #KitaJagaKita during these difficult times. We hope Wan Mohd Faisal manages to pay the compound.
