Sleeping In On The Weekend: Yay or Nay?

today3 April 2021

Background

Most people associate the weekend with resting, and resting means sleeping in! Let’s weigh the consequences between waking up early even on days you have nothing going on and sacrificing your zzz’s.

First of all, waking up early on the weekends is just what you need to amp up your productivity!

The most productive hours of the day are between 5 am to 9 am. Rising early gives you more time to get things done, such as house chores, cooking, and maybe run some errands. Being productive gives you a boost in dopamine levels to get through the day! Also, it increases your confidence level knowing that you can, in fact, get a lot of things done in a short span of time.

Next, is focus, focus, focus!

Most people are under the impression that early mornings leave them feeling tired and groggy. But scientifically, this isn’t true! Quiet mornings are just what you need to get things done without distractions. It’s too early to be receiving calls from friends asking to hang out, and there are no sounds of noisy traffic outside to disturb your peace.

Lastly, exerciseeee!

A study in 2013 discovered that the body burns more fat in the morning, making it the most optimum time to get some workout done. Going to the gym later in the day when you’re already worn out from your daily activities may impact your endurance levels!

Bonus point: Morning exercises keeps you disciplined and curbs your cravings for unhealthy foods!

But of course, everyone is wired differently. If you feel that you can’t, then you just can’t anymore. So if you are given the chance to replenish your energy, then don’t let it go to waste! By all means, go ahead and recharge yourself on your days off so you can kick off the coming working week with a bang!

You know yourself best.
